About Redatam

Redatam is the acronym for Data Recovery for Small Areas by Microcomputer.

In the context of the permanent support that CELADE, the Population Division of ECLAC, provides to the member countries of the region and other parts of the world; The continuous development of the REDATAM software is inserted, to support the tasks of processing and disseminating statistics and censuses, particularly the Population and Housing Censuses and their use in the current decade of censuses.

Accelerated technological changes contribute to better quality and timeliness in obtaining databases and final results, and at the same time, it requires a permanent update of the tools that accompany these processes. CELADE for 30 years has been striving to balance these two realities with the REDATAM project and thanks to the support of a number of institutions, especially UNFPA, this year it is launching a new generation of “Redatam7 Fast & Friendly” software, whose main improvements and new features we put at your consideration:

The program uses a database structured in a highly compressed hierarchical order, with millions of records of people, houses, city blocks or any administrative division of a country. That data can come from any combination of censuses, surveys, or other sources. It is possible to define, from a database, any geographic area of interest (from city blocks) or combinations of these areas, create new variables, obtain various types of tabulations very quickly and export outputs to other software, such as example, digital mapping.

Personal Conclusions

This program allows us to access the direct database of the inec, where by taking graphs and statistical tables we can collect information on figures and percentages referring to tourism variables.

Task:
Based on the INEC page (Click) search for 3 statistical results that contribute to tourism. Justify your choice.
